How to ensure the steam quality of industrial steam boilers

The quality of the steam of industrial steam boilers is very important, because it can affect the stability, reliability and economy of the system operation, and also affect the product quality, output power and energy consumption. How to ensure the steam quality of industrial steam boilers

1) Cleanliness

There are rust and carbonate deposits in the steam pipeline, and there may be residual welding slag and sealing material fragments during the installation. These impurities will cause blockage and damage to valves and equipment, and will also increase pipeline wear.

The way to improve cleanliness is to install pipe filters, and the filters should be installed horizontally.

2) Dryness

Incorrect water treatment of boiler water supply, irrational boiler level control, and excessively high peak loads for a short period of time will cause the phenomenon of co-transpiration of the boiler, causing the boiler outlet to carry boiler water. When the steam moves in the pipe, the heat dissipation of the pipe will cause a part of the steam to condense, adding condensed water in the pipe.

Chemical substances and other impurities carried in the condensed water will accumulate on the surface of the heat exchange equipment, affecting the power of the heat exchange equipment, and the accumulated impurities will scar the metal surface of the equipment, resulting in uneven heating of the metal surface and shortened life. In addition, the presence of water in the steam reduces the enthalpy of steam evaporation and adds steam consumption; the moisture in the steam will increase the thickness of the water film measured by the heat transfer surface steam, and the rated heat transfer thermal resistance will occur.

Adding a steam-water separator is a useful way to improve steam dryness. An efficient steam-water separator can improve steam dryness to 98%.

3) Purity

There is air in the steam system. This is because the steam generated in the boiler still inevitably contains a small amount of air. In addition, there will also be air when the pipes and equipment are started. When the system and equipment are stopped, the air is sucked in due to the internal vacuum.

The thermal conductivity of air is very low and it is a poor conductor for heating. The steam system contains air, which will reduce the production capacity of steam equipment, and also increase the corrosion of pipelines, valves and equipment.

The most useful way to eliminate non-condensable gases such as air in the steam system and improve the purity of the steam is to install an automatic air exhaust device in the system.

4) Pressure / temperature stability

In order to ensure process heating requirements, the steam pressure at the point of use should reach the required value. At the same time, the steam pressure should not be too high, otherwise steam consumption will be added.

When the steam contains non-condensable gas such as air, although the pressure gauge shows satisfactory pressure, the corresponding temperature will be lower than the corresponding full temperature.

High pressure steam, low pressure steam. Supply steam equipment with the lowest and stable pressure required for satisfaction. In this way, not only can the production demand be satisfied, but also the effect of energy saving and consumption reduction can be achieved.

Selecting the appropriate steam delivery pressure and pipe diameter, useful pipe and valve insulation, coupled with reasonable pipe drainage and emptying, coupled with pressure reduction and pressure stabilization at the point of use, can achieve pressure / temperature stability at the point of use.
